 DO YOU WANT TO BE A SWIMMER? IF YOU DO YOU SHOULD LEARN ABOUT THE FAMOUS Jenny Thompson. She was born on February 26 1973 in Danvers Massachusetts. Jenny had 3 older brothers and her mother’s name was Magrid. She only had a mother not a father. Jenny began swimming at age 7 and joined the YMCA in Massachusetts. Jenny kept swimming and became the swimmer of the year in college. Have you ever wondered how she started her career? Well…she was young. When she was twenty, she started swimming in the World Championships. She is known for having passion when swimming. Jenny is a competitive person. She is married to Daniel Cumpelik. You learned about her a little, but you haven’t learned all of it until you’ve learned why she is famous. At a young age Jenny Thompson was swimming and representing our country in the Olympics. At age 14, she was swimming with other countries. She was the youngest swimmer at the 1992 Olympics. She swam the butterfly and the freestyle. She went to four Olympics – 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004. Jenny was an Olympic swimming champion. Why is she so famous? I will tell you. She won more medals than any other US athlete. She held the world record in the 50meter and 100meter freestyle. She got a scholarship to Stanford University in California. Now, she is a Doctor at Maine Medical Center. This is amazing, but do you want to know what awards she got? I heard you say that you wanted to know what awards jenny got. She was the best collage female swimmer. Jenny has won 12 Olympic medals between 1992-2004 (8 gold 3 silver and 1 bronze.) isn’t she a good swimmer I think that it is cool that she got so many awards. What does jenny have to do with N.H? She moved to Dover NH at age 13. Well now you know she has some connections to Dover, N.H. “You want to know more don’t you?” well this is some information you don’t want to miss. Jenny volunteered for Swim across America. Her mom is a single parent. Jenny broke her arm at a pool party. When she was a kid she loved the super hero Wonder Woman. We are still talking about Jenny Thompson today. Well Jenny was strong and really confident and she won more medals than any other US athlete in the Olympics.
